Railway drainage system installation in Melbourne, Australia

Brownline was called in to provide steering services in Australia for drills that were realized to install multiple underground water drainage systems under railroads.

Complicating factors

  • The drill tracks were situated right below the railways
  • Specific vertical wells needed to be intersected
  • Rail service needed to continue unimpeded
  • There were specific entry and exit points defined between the rail tracks and the residences

Steering with no margin for error

The depth profile needed to be completed to spec to generate a properly functioning water drainage system. Our Gyro steering tool (GST) was able to realize the drill to spec. Our steering tool also ensured an exit in the zero-tolerance area between the rail tracks and the residential area after a relatively long drill.
