In March 2022, Brownline surveyed a short but very narrow drill job in Canada.
As part of the expansion of a community centre in Red Deer, Alberta, a sanitary line had to be installed, connecting the drainage system inside the building to a sanitary system outside. Alberta Directional Boring was commissioned to realize this drill job.
The 127 meters (417 ft) drill path led into the basement of the G.H. Dawe Community Centre, where it exited in a 60 cm (2 ft) wide hole in the basement wall. In addition this narrow exit point, the drill trajectory was within 75 cm (2.5 ft) of the concrete piling under the community centre. A job with margins these narrow demanded a highly accurate steering tool.
Brownline’s Gyro Steering Tool was the perfect solution for this job. Unaffected by interference of the surrounding infrastructure, the GST kept the drill right on track and punched out right where we wanted it to! Alberta Directional Boring was very satisfied with our GST’s successful performance.
