Drilling for the improvement of the power and telecom network

In October 2021, Brownline surveyed a 330-meter long bore in the Belgian province of Hainaut. This drill job, commissioned by Dekabo, is part of a project for the construction of new underground power and telecom cables.

The local network operator is working on the electricity and telecom network at various places in the province. This is done by expanding the capacity, but also by replacing the old, aboveground connections with new underground cables.

In this context, work on the power and telecom network has recently taken place between the towns of Moustier and Frasnes-lez-Anvaing. Part of this project is a 330-meter bore for the construction of new underground power and telecom cables. The trajectory of the bore was set at a depth of 11 meters and ran parallel to the main road that connects both villages. Both the entry point and the exit point are located directly on this road and at a very short distance from buildings. The trajectory also crosses the E429 highway halfway through the bore. These factors require a steering tool that delivers extremely accurate results without being affected by external interference. The choice for the Drillguide Gyro Steering Tool was therefore quickly made!

Thanks to the joint efforts of Dekabo and Brownline, this bore was carried out smoothly and professionally, allowing the project to be completed as planned.
