Detroit River Crossing - USA & Canada border

Our experienced personnel from both sides of the border teamed up to complete the 3940ft (1200m) crossing under the Detroit River using our Gyro Steering Tool and Radar Combo.

With a complex 80° S-Curve and tight radius specifications, the designed trajectory had very little room for deviation and required the most advanced steering tools.

Close monitoring of annular pressures provided by the gyro tool became an integral part of the drilling operations. At the planned intersect point located in a short tangent within the S-Curve, Radar Surveys proved the accuracy of the Gyro Steering Tools with a mere 2ft (0.61m) offset from anticipated locations.

A perfect intersect was executed and the connection between USA and Canada has never been stronger!
