Baltic pipeline continued: drilling in Denmark

In 2021 we participated in the construction of the Baltic Pipeline; a 900 km long cross-border natural gas pipeline in Northern Europe. Recently, we surveyed another bore for this project in Denmark, on behalf of Van Leeuwen Sleufloze Technieken.

The Danish section of the Baltic Pipeline will be completed in the second half of 2022. Until then, there is still quite a bit of work to be done, including this 522 meter long bore south-west of the city of Odense. The borehole was laid out under the river Odense Å at a depth of more than 26 meter. The river’s source lies in the south-east of the island of Funen and it runs straight through the city of Odense to end in the Odensefjord.

Brownline's Drillguide Gyro Steering Tool was chosen for this bore. Safety and accuracy are of the utmost importance in any drilling, especially when it comes to a natural gas pipeline. Both the entry and exit points were located in swampy areas and the soft soil required the combined expertise of the VLST drilling team and Brownline’s surveyor.

With the Drillguide GST, the highest quality requirements are met and the drilling is carried out within the set schedule. On to the completion of this grand project!
